Catholic Daughters of the Americas

Who We Are:
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. The CDA was formed over 100 years ago under the patronage of the Blessed Mother and today numbers 66,000 dues-paying members in 1,150 courts (local chapters) in 45 states across the country and in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, Kenya, and Peru.
Our Commitment:
The CDA motto is “Unity and Charity” and has a mission to embrace the principle of faith through love in the promotion of justice, equality, and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all. We donate to charities, administer scholarship programs, and strive “to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness.”

What We Do:
Throughout the year, the Holy Family CDA is involved in a variety of activities which seek to uplift organizations, communities, families, and individuals. These include:
- Supporting 1 seminarian and 1 diaconate candidate in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston
- Supporting 2 youths to attend the yearly Archdiocesan Youth Conference
- Sponsoring 1 person’s participation in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s held in Houston
- Contributing to 5 national and 5 state Catholic Daughters of the America’s charities
- Sending delegates to the annual CDA state convention
- Participating in a memorial Holy Mass in conjunction with the Holy Family Church Knights of Columbus
- Holding a basket fundraiser for the Valentine Dance
- Selling desserts during the Lenten fish fry
- Selling desserts and managing the cake wheel at the parish’s annual Fall Festival
- Hosting an end-of-the year banquet
Time & Training:
- Members meet once a month from September to June on the 3rd Tuesday at 7:00 pm
Requirements:
- Open to women who are 18 years or older and who are in good standing with the Catholic Church
- All members must complete the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Training for Adults
