Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick

Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
(James 5:14-15)

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing and spiritual strengthening administered by a priest to a baptized person who is seriously sick or in danger of death because of illness or old age or about to undergo surgery.

The sacrament unites the sick person to Christ’s suffering and gives strength, courage and peace, and also brings forgiveness of sins if the person is unable to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The sacrament can also bring restoration of health if it is conducive to the person’s salvation and the will of God.

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is celebrated at any time upon request by contacting one of the priests or

calling the church office at 281-499-9688.

The Sacrament is also administered to those who need it at our monthly Healing Mass. Please refer to the side bar on the right for the schedule.
